Two Annual Sales, Two Ways to Buy.
Fall Angus Sales in Wabaunsee County Since 1963 - A little history:
In 2003, we instituted the DRI/KCC "Built for the Long Haul" fall production sale, held the 1st Friday in November with our good friends the Kniebels. However, the story starts 40 years earlier in 1963. Our good friends, mentors & neighbors at Shamrock Farms had been holding an Angus production sale on the 1st Friday in November beginning in 1963 and were moving towards retirement. After selling some bulls in their event for a couple of years and growing DRI operations, George & June Crenshaw generously offered us the Shamrock date. Thus, the tradition of top-quality Angus seedstock available in NW Wabaunsee County, KS continues on uninterrupted for over 60 years. The spring sale is born, but without the auction format. Several years back, we made a few yearlings available in the spring for our customers who were in a bind and couldn't wait until fall. As we grew operations, we started "officially" offering bulls in the spring. As demand for those bulls grew, we were running into the problem of folks wanting the chance at first pick of everything. How could we be fair to all and maintain our sanity? Liking the relaxed atmosphere of our spring private treaty sales and the ability to take lots of time with each individual customer, we settled on an official start to the private treaty season. Read how we do that below. The best we have to offer, spring & fall. No matter which sale you choose, rest assured there will be our best yearling & age-advantaged bulls for sale, spring or fall. There will be no quality difference in either sale. The bulls selected for spring OR fall represent a cross section of ALL the bulls. You can be assured of the best-of-the-best offered at both editions of our sales. |

If you want a chance at EVERYTHING we're offering in the spring, you need to be at DRI (or have made arrangements with us ahead of time) on the opening Thursday and have your selections made by the 12pm start time. You will be issued as many tags as you want with your number. All bulls will have a base price posted. You'll place your tag(s) on the bull(s) you're interested in by 12pm. Placing a tag gives you the right but not the obligation to purchase a bull, so don't hesitate to place tags on 4 bulls that meet your specs even if you only need 2.
If you can't make it, don't worry. We can do your bidding for you or get you on the phone. Like always, we'll handle your business with honesty & integrity. If at 12pm, multiple folks are interested in one bull, we will open up bidding between ONLY those folks with their tags on that particular bull, starting with the bull with the most tags. This is the "Bid-off" portion of the sale. We will ask those people and only those people to keep their hands up until the bull reaches a price where they're no longer interested. If the last 2 people drop their hands on the same incremental bid, the bull goes to the lower buyer number. Want a lower buyer number? Register now by clicking here. At that point, the people who did not get the bid-off bull just sold (and only those people) can move their tag to another bull that meets their criteria if need be. When there are no longer any bulls with multiple tags, then the bid-off portion is concluded and any single-tagged bulls are considered sold. If you put tags out on 3 bulls and only need 2, please remove your other tags as soon as your order is filled. After the bid-off portion is concluded, it is a straight 1st-come, 1st-served sale. For your convenience and ease of viewing, we will have the entire offering available at DRI Saturday until 5pm & again from 12 pm - 4 pm on Sunday. After Sunday, don't worry: you can still buy a bull, but they will be at their home ranches - black AN & Sm AN at DRI, Red AN & red SmAN at KCC. |

Since 2003, we've brought you age-advantaged bulls & bred heifers on the First Friday in November live with an auctioneer. The entire offering is penned on site and sold that same day. With available online videos & bidding options, this is your opportunity to get all your needs met on one day in a reasonable time frame. Heck, you don't even have to come to the sale site! Every year, more customers take advantage of this and shop from home (or wherever they have good cell service), making their purchases online. With our history of delivering cattle that exceed expectations and our site unseen guarantee, this is a great way to save time & money while getting the best seedstock anywhere.
